Frequently asked questions about the telephone and online counselling service

LIEBESLEBEN offers counselling on gender diversity, sexual orientation and how to protect yourself from conversion therapy. We also provide support on issues like gender identity and coming out. The counselling team of the BZgA can also answer your questions about conversion therapy, such as the legal situation surrounding it, how you recognise conversion therapy and how you can protect yourself from it.

And by the way: we also offer counselling for relatives, friends, co-workers, teachers, educators and other professionals.

LIEBESLEBEN takes the protection of your data seriously! Your inquiry will therefore of course be treated completely anonymously. This includes not having to give your name if you don't want to. However, if you need the address of a counselling centre near you, we need to know your postcode.

We only need your email address to send you login details in case you forget them, or to notify you when you a response to your inquiry is ready. Your email address will only be used for this purpose and it will of course be deleted when you delete your account – just like all other data.

You will receive an answer as soon as possible – definitely within a few days. Unfortunately, we cannot give you an exact time frame.

No, definitely not! Your data will be encrypted and will not contain any personal information. It is not evaluated in our system.

Yes, the questions and answers are stored, but they are of course treated with strict confidentially. This is necessary for quality assurance. As soon as you delete your account, all related information will be deleted as well.

The team of the telephone and online counselling service of the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) consists of experts from various professions who focus on the topics of sexuality, sexual and gender diversity and protection from conversion therapy. These experts also receive ongoing training on these topics.

It is generally not possible to predict this. However, our trained counsellors will only ask questions which they consider necessary in order to deal with your personal concerns. It helps for you to be open and honest. But of course you don't have to answer questions you don't feel comfortable with.
